XM question

Post by stu » 23 Aug 2007

What's wrong with this?

Why is the bidding so low?

I might be up for that one...
Cheers,
Stu

Simple!
It's a 2.0 16v, so it's thirsty.
It's got high mileage, so it'll probably want valve stem seals before long.

It's a petrol, and no-one wants petrol XM's, it's all about the DERV ya know.

XM's are worthless at the best of times.
However, if you can live with MPG in the low 20's round town (although they're actually not bad on a run if you dont drive like Michael Schumacher), this could be a very nice very cheap car.

I dont want a petrol XM, but thats a nice colour, has history, looks in pretty good condition and the seller doesn't seem to be a penis.

Could do worse kid!
And it's a hell of a lot of car for the money.
You could get addicted!

I'd prefer a diesel too, but all the XMs on the 'bay right now seem to be 2.0l petrols. I don't do a lot of miles so consumption isn't my biggest concern. Also pretty much all my driving is A-roads and motorways.

Valve stem seals - a difficult/expensive job? Something I could learn to do, or something for the garage?

Hm. I might just get lucky and finish up with this one!

Stu

Just put your max bid on in advance. Theres a benefit in being out, saves you getting carried away bidding beyond. :)
It's annoying when you see someone has got it just beyond your max BUT you dont know that he wouldn't have pushed it higher had you both been there and bidding at the close.
