After more than 12 months of running with an alternator that was giving signs of failing... you know, when driving at night, the lights would get brighter every now and then... It's finally failed!
My ex-boyfriend's uncle from Australia, and I went for a short break to North wales, visiting Llanberis, Snowdon, and Beddgelert... on the way back to Bristol while on the M5 the charge light started to glow a bit....and when I finally got into Bristol and needed the wipers, they were very slow which confirmed there was no charge.
Still, I found a suitable replacement on the bay, £48 including post, and according to the ad, it's a valeo!
We shall see....

If all else fails, then a bit of mix'n'matchery with components from spare alternators might work in the short term... if they're the same make. One good 'un from two bad 'uns is not impossible.

I paid a shocking amount more from a dealers in France once, although it did have pretty red chevrons on the box which made all the difference...and I was amazed that they had an 80 amp one on the shelf on a Friday at 6pm!
