Triming the fleet...

Post by PiLsY. » 22 Oct 2007

OK all, I need suggestions. Here's the situation...

BX 1: RCP - silver 1.9td estate. Suspension problem, knackered exhaust and Air in fuel. Bodywork horrible. MOT Jan 08.

BX 2: RLO - white 8v GTI. Exhaust knackered (have replacement), needs work around the front end wishbones, droplinks, bearings or something. Paintwork horrible, body ok. MOT June 08

BX 3: DYK - Triton Green TZD Turbo hatch. Front end nearside rattle at low speed, air leak in fuel lines somewhere, back sometimes goes a very creaky. Paint horrible, body ok. No MOT.

Now, its pointless me having 3. I can't run 3, I can only run 2 (maybe). RCP is the most practical for me and I'd really like to keep it, but its also going to be the biggest paint in the arse to fix. RLO is brilliant fun, the engine and suspension are excellent and apart from the paintwork its your typical BX GTI with everything working and a very strong engine. DYK is a standard 1.7td with perfect interior, straight fairly rust free body. Should be cheap to get back on the road and through an MOT.

Which one goes and why? I have hardly used the GTI since getting the estate, but I am rather attached. I would need to keep a second car if I had the estate as I couldn't go anywhere nice in it (its mingin, but perfect for what it does), so need one of the hatches. Pocket says TZD, heart says GTI.

Help me out here lads :).

your heart should always rule your pocket , take the perfect interior out of DYK put it in RLO then you kinda get to keep both

GTi all the way mate. On the odd occasion I've allowed my head to rule my heart I've ALWAYS without fail regretted it later.

As for which other to keep....well..... the estate is practical, and it means you have two EX-Billy mobiles.....
Ok, it needs some work, but anything that old will..
