Smiffy's new motor, crap picture, but it was dark, and cold, and in work....
Image

Not a bad beasty...

Anyway, had another fun filled afternoon with Mr. MiG.....
At last, the sills are finished. Thank fuck.
Note the quality paint runs!
Image
Not bothered since two coats of stone chip will be slopped on top before the bodykit goes back on, after I spray it up, if the weather ever warms up....

So, next it's on to the inner rear arches (both of the rusty fucking things) and the o/s quarter wing...
Image

Then onto the rear valance which isn't too bad yet, and is all easy to get at, and flat! Hurrah!
Image

I shall be stealing Smiffy's bonnet, front wings and front bumper this weekend so the front of the car will at least look finished!

Yes, I think it would look considerably better with Speedlines, especially since it actuallt has the correct trims, and that just wont do, fat too similar to PP...

Another slow day, mainly cos I just can't be arsed....

Anyway, gave the car some Red Bull, and it sprouted wings!
Image
Courtesu of Smiffy's valver, the bonnet also was pilaged from OHO and although the bumper was cosmetically great, some human penis has hacked fuck out of them to fit the aftermartket fog lights, so I used the less good but original bumper from KMO given that I wanted to retain the correct front fog's....

And they both work! YAY!
Image
So tomorrow I can get the N/S sill skirts on, sort the dent in the N/S/R 1/4 wing and thats the N/S finished bar a bit of welding in the inner arch.
I shall also endevour to get the O/S/R 1/4 wing off and start repairing the inner wing and closing panel on that side.

As it is I'm now off to nick some bits from a scrapper Lance in work to keep in stock for 132 when she arrives in the fleet!

Why thank you, it doesn't look too bad at all, although the bumper doesn't quite fit perfectley against the O/S wing, so I'll fettle the side bracket a touch..

The N/S arch is ok, the only rot is as per the piccy above, outrigger and forward of it into the inner arch, easy enough to fix, the O/S arch has gone in exactley the same place as the N/S but is a little more advanced, but again easy enough since it's all nice and flat and accessable from inside the boot and in the arch itself so I can see just how good I penetrate!
And of course the other usual place where the outer wing joins the inner arech / door shut panel, but I'm getting quite good at doing them now, this one should be even easier as I'm going to hack the whole thing out of KMO since it's perfect!

Might get that done tomorrow if the 1/4 wing comes off without too much of a fight!

Ok, I'm a bit undecided.
When I put a P2 bumper on the red car I sprayed the grill black, I think it looks rather nice.
Since the black car is a bit of a colour reversal of the red car I thought it would look good with a red grill.
Although now I'm not so sure.

I dont dislike it, but I'm not sure I like it either.

might be easier to decide once the front number plate is back on

are you not doing the grille at the lower edge of the bonnet Chris ?

it is in danger of looking a touch rice but until you do it you wont know

needs a few nice chrome badges to complete the look

Fuck me that is a shiney front you have mate! Looking very nice mate. The red grille below does look good and doesn't look gay...it kinda gives the car a mouth...
I've been staring at the piccy and I can't decide either actually, it does look kinda good. BUT, if it were mine (which it ain't, but if it were) I'd have it black....it may just show off those bumper strips a bit more which also look clean and shiney...
Either way mate it'll look fucking cool 8)

I've got the bonnet grilles in chrome, red, black, and white, so I'll maybe try a red one this weekend and see how it looks....

Bloody fucking welding, oh how I hate welding...

Anyway, the N/S rear corner is now finito. And for the first time since I've owned it, the car now has a proper genuine rear exhaust hanger!
Image
And after a bit of plating on the inside of the wing it's now rather much stronger than it was.
Image

The I doscovered this on the O/S wheelarch..
Image
Which was a bit worse than it looked..

Image

Stucka couple of plates on the O/S of the rear valance, and that pretty much finished that off.
Then I took the wing off...Oh dear...

Image
Image
Bit more to do there then..
And opf course the obgliatory rot in the door shut closing panel...

Image
So a bit more to do there aswell.
Then I can put the MiG away for a bit and get on with the rear subframe, exhaust, HP and Fuel pipes yadda yadda yadda....

That looks exactly the same as how my Td has gone mate....So where the reddish line is...............is that where the inner wing meets the 'outer' wing...the one thats spot welded? If so, how are the two joined? Make note of any tips mate and let me know cos I'll be doing the same in a couple of months (or maybe 3.....or 4..........or 5........blaa blaa blaa)

8) cool man, it certainly looks suitably strengthened, nice job :D

When you put the wing back, I find that modern silicones are better than
automotive sealants (unless you use one thats been siliconized....er obviously)

Quite agree Phil, I shall be using bodyshop spec silicone joint sealer, as it seems to be strong, and has the added bonus of not being sponge like and keeping water in it like Citroen used...

The weld is not the neatest ever, but it cant be seen and I've taken to doing short bursts with the power turned up as it gives much better penetration that way, although it's nearly all down to the shite supply voltage in the building I think, the old mans car was a doddle to geta decent weld with, but that was using a regulated genny....

Bandit, you are quite right the red gloopy water trapping shite is the bonding stuff they use to glue the inner wing to the outer wing, there are no welds along that join at any point.
The only welds are two spot welds with the outrigger, 6 spots up the front seam, several spots along the very top of the 1/4 wing (where it's hidden behind the side pod / vent) and a few spots along the back edge where it butts against the rear valance.
1/4 wings are actually very easy to remove.
I always use rivets along the top edge as they cant be seen and working on the principle that if I ever need to remove the wing again it's a fuck sight quicker to drill a rivet out than drill a spot weld.

  No I realised how it looked, That`s why I added the suffix

The older automotive sealants are still on sale  and they are crap really.
The new bodyshop spec ones have been siliconised and are much more adhesive and water resistant ......as Doc said in his response 8)
