Now i understand what your saying, but having had a play in a 205 Mi16 with tight gear linkages, and a short shift, the difference was immence. And hell you've got to have bling, its the law!!

Only if you're black, honky!

Luke's got the short throw change on his valver, and whilst I take my hat off to the dude, that car is lovely to drive (fast), but it's a bitch round town and I'm not liking the lack of torque at the bottom, although it's built for a purpose, so ya know..

In essence, I find the gear shift just fine in both the Valver, and the TD.

Dad's car has the best shift though, fucking seemless that sonabitch!

My (sorry Gregzee's) 19 N/A, has always had a smooth shift. It's always been very precise though, get it right and it's seemless. Anything slightly out of co ordination and it responds with a baulk or a crunch!! Which serves you right I suppose 8)

Yeah I agree, but the earlier box with the lift up reverse was never that smooth. I think they did something else besides change the selection route? I 've looked at the baulk rings on the synchro hubs, the chamfer on thre brass bits looks shallower on the later boxes....not measured it though....just an impression!!

AFAIK they are the same, or at least interchangable. I've rebuilt a BE1 box using the rings and hubs from a BE3 box, never thought to actually see if they were different mind...

:) It was just one of thosde things that come into mind Doc.
You know what I mean, you look at something, on a rebuild and think,I'm sure that was different.

I seem to remember those chamfers at 45 degrees whereas the ones on the later box I was doing were more like 30 degrees, which, thinking about it would slide into the selector fork err.....smoother?????
