Post by mnde » 25 Mar 2010

As posted on BXC - and I ain't posted on here for a long time either, so hello one and all!

For the benefit of those not on BXC: Last year I walked 10 miles around Windsor Great Park in support of the Anthony Nolan Trust. This year we've entered to do the full 13 mile course, the mad people that we are!!

So please sponsor me thankyou please:

Done. Though I have to say 13 steps kills me, let alone 13 miles! Good Luck!

I struggle to climb the few steps to my front door these days, 13 miles would only be possible in a car, or in a box in the back of a car!
So, yes, good luck!

Right I'll sort something out for you ....13 miles. .. Hmm that's about 3 more than I walk every day.
It's great being a pensioner, I can get the bus freee to a nice spot, have a bit of a route march then relax while my chauffeur drives me home. 8)

No word of a lie, this old bird gets on my bus in Bath yesterday morning.. Gets a freebie ticket to Brizzle.. no problem..
get's to Brizzle and "how long till you go back driver?" she asks..
"well love, I'm already late and should have left, but I'm busting for a pee so I'll be a couple of minutes".. says I..
"but there's a Bath bus on the next bay loading right now" I continue
"oh" she says "that one looks a bit busy, I'll wait for you"
so, I go piss, come back, on she gets, goes all the way to Bath bus station, gets off and says, "thanks, that was lovely"...
then wanders over to the Calne bus..
If my life was THAT empty I'd fucking hang myself.. driving my own bus around, yes please, but ainlessly riding around on a service bus? fuck that!

We haven't got that bad .....yet. The wife goes to different markets on the bus or train. and I use the bus to go somewhere nice for a walk possible pint in the summer. Also to nip into town. The bus is free and if I use the car although the fuel isn't much it's £1-30 to park for 3 hours, you can't get any less. :x

Slight change of plan.

The organisers have postponed the event until September... but as we cannot make the revised date, we're going to go on a 13 mile walk anyway. Tomorrow, because the weather forecast is better. We're going to take cameras etc. with us and we've carefully researched a route to take us to a train station where we can get straight back to Woking. I'll log back in afterwards to let you know how we got on.

If anyone would like to donate retrospectively, that's fine as the site will remain open. :)

Cheers,

Mark.

Hi chaps,

We did it! Walked from our house in Old Woking to Hersham station, got the train back to Woking, walked to the pub for fish and chips and a pint or two, then to the bus stop, then from just down the road back to our house, so 13 miles all in all. We both felt pretty sore after all that - but it was all in a worthy cause.

Our main route

Some pics if anyone's interested...

You can still sponsor me if you want.... (nudge, nudge Doc :) ) Thanks to JayW for his sponsorship (EDIT: and Philhod!). Im lagging way behind Lucy

:P OK so I believe you did it! Gratulieren. Some nice pics there, you certainly had the weather.

Your trees are a lot further on than ours up here. We got frost again last night and more tonight too, so it's not surprising I suppose.
