Re: Damaged's Easter Sunday Outing
Crikey - this is a bit bewildering but educational to a non-bus-head like me.
Before reading this thread the only non-furry-but-moving Leopards and Tigers I knew of were tanks. I know about as much about those as buses, though.

Re: Damaged's Easter Sunday Outing
TBH, we knew fuck all about busses too, we just thought - rip the seats out the back, build some bunk beds, install a chemi-bog, install a sink and plumb it so the water drains outside and install a work surface for the camping stoves - job done with some ply, nails and a bit of paint - we pulled the floorboards up and were confronted by this big fuck off gearbox, lots of rusty metal and some funny air bag things that looked like they might be springs and we couldnt work out why they were listing on one side - so we got rid and bought a transit instead.
The transit was similaly shagged out, but we had an inkling of what to do with that between us all ( as one lad was doing a B-Tec in mechanikery skillorz, I had done electronics and electrical engineering and another lad was a brickie).

Who?smiffy wrote:There are some Tigers with Plaxton late style panorama bodies, you may remember our friend at Chew vally coaches, (who has the peugeot 405 Mi16 4x4 has one.
Mi16 4x4?
WTF?
If your coach had air springs then almost certainly a Tiger rather than a Leopard.
Hydracyclic gearbox coupled to a TL11 engine.
If you still had it, I know someone that would buy that !

Twas many moons ago - 92 to be exact, we bought a bright orange Tranny instead and used tents, got stopped by customs coming back which was a whole lot of no fun indeed unpacking three bloody great canvas patrol tents, and all the other associated luggage including rucksacks full of very niffy 2 week old laundry.

Ah yes, Andy the brickie (who now runs sea cadetts) has the twat it with a hammer approach to mechanikery - and quite often it worked....
