French Car Porn
I dropped in at Tom's last night (he's just been recharging his batteries in France) and he pressed the current issue of Gazoline magazine into my sweaty palms. Dangerous. All those pics of lubing-up, vices, "Guide d'achat Ami 6-8 & M35(Birotor)", an H-van and a DC-3 in the same pic, a strange metal-bodied but wood-braced streamlined oddity from 30s America, a slightly different kind of Sherpa from the one we know (a German open-top pickup on a 2CV chassis)....
I also followed up the mention of "lebencoin" by one of the Netherland contingent camping on the fringes of BXclub at the moment, and there's certainly some BX porn for sale there, but at a price e.g.

Yup, I know this is bxproject......and maybe it should have gone somewhere else too
Some things are universal too... like spelling and mythical original engines - like the gent who's selling a 1.9TD BX "melisime" - (Millesime)

Re: French Car Porn
Leather does look good in a BX fair play, and as for the twin h/l conversion thingies, kinda cool but I've always thought the combined (standard) unit looks better!?

Re: French Car Porn
I take back the "mythical engines" bit - you're quite right, Vanny. I forgot the designation (one up from base, niormally-aspirated). I don't actually like the 2-light headlamps myself much Bandit, but I know there's those that do. Some of them are yellow-bulbed too... though it takes a a lot of yellow bulbs to make up 200 euros.
As for the TZi estate, I guess that's one of very few BX estates you're likely to find with original-option leather seats. If I had to pay that sort of money for a BX I'd prefer to do it there where the price is nearer the market rate for a working car, and isn't a "classic-status"-led punt.
What's nice thing about that auction site is that each ad is linked to a French postcode so you can (almost) instantly see where it's being sold. I could see that site being pretty useful for someone living in France or visiting on a regular basis.

Convenient for the buyer but risky from the "nick to order" scallies on any desireable cars.Fish_Botherer wrote:What's nice thing about that auction site is that each ad is linked to a French postcode so you can (almost) instantly see where it's being sold. Re: French Car Porn
I had a set of quads. They got destroyed by a wall and black ice on a mates car..
Never much liked them which is why I lent them to him, oddly when they got trashed I was a tad upset about them. Duno why, I wouldn't fit them to mine, although mainbeam was hugely impressive...

I remember back in92 when I had my 19 TRS my friendly mechanic had a white estate with leather, very nice it was too ,I dont like the quad light look on any car personally ( especially not on barried up mk4 escorts )
Light travels quicker than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Re: French Car Porn
/\ yet all cars 'born' with the quads look right! The alternative of course is to use the black plastic shield that
a) looks shitter than real quads
b) looks shit
c) reduces the amount of light
d) looks shit

Or, make your own shield with a roll of insulating tape (that almost, but not quite matches the colour of your paintwork), a knife, and an unsteady hand.Bx Bandit wrote:The alternative of course is to use the black plastic shield that

And don't even get me started on those people who extend the edges of their bonnet to block out the corners of their headlights...

Re: French Car Porn
Wot...........like 'eye lids'? Those are indeed even more shit and for no obvious reason! There are of course those imitation 'angel eyes' and even the imitation LED surrounds like on the Aldi A4 (or is it Aldi A5?)mat_the_cat wrote:Or, make your own shield with a roll of insulating tape (that almost, but not quite matches the colour of your paintwork), a knife, and an unsteady hand.Bx Bandit wrote:The alternative of course is to use the black plastic shield that

That's a strange fashion anyway, real or not from my perception.Bx Bandit wrote:There are of course those imitation 'angel eyes'
