Re: Weather prospects for tomorrow afternoon...
Not wishing to be a party pooper, and I've debated wether to say this or not matey Vagina Jay, but a friend of my dad's nearly lost it towing a caravan with a BX; it's only disadvantage being light weight. I know you know your shit so I won't/don't need to go on, but do take it easy

Don't panic y'old tart!
It be fine, car will be loaded right up and the 'van is only 950kg.
Doin' a Clarkson enraging 50mph
Took it out for a long run yesterday with the car empty and it felt good. I have to admit the 'van looks huge on the back of the BX but size isn't everything

Yes, but I will point out that there is a big difference between 'can' and 'will'...Bx Bandit wrote:Matt, can you perform an act of oral love upon all of us?

Re: Weather prospects for tomorrow afternoon...
Don't knock it till you've tried it....erm.....ahem.....apparently.
Anyway, moving (swiftly) back to caravans, my old man used to tow a 4 berth 1 ton caravan behind his BX for years, said it felt very stable compared to standard sprung cars (he even towed it with his GSA which although stable was a little underpowered...)
I've towed a loaded car transporter behind mine (total weight about 1800kg I guess ) with no issues. Equally, I've towed a similar weight on a trailer with poor brakes and that was terrifying! I've also pulled a big Ifor Williams trailer for a short distance where the hitch was too high for the car (probably designed for 4x4 hitch height) and that was a nightmare too. Basically, set up right you'll be fine, I think the BX won towcar of the year a few times in its day.

Re: Weather prospects for tomorrow afternoon...
The caravan club made it tow car of the year twice IIRC, but I dont think it ever won any official awards other than that?

Re: Weather prospects for tomorrow afternoon...
Diesel car made it towcar of the year, sometime around 87/88 and I think it was a TD.
I`ve occasionally towed trailers with other cars on, using the 19 N/A. I found it coped well whenever I used it. Really no issues at all and I towed one all the way down to Ross on Wye once, so wasn`t just on the flat.
