well yeah, aside from the D6C of course, but ya know, I get little but grief from the tD lumps, whereas the NA lumps, both of them, just went on and on and on. Even when I blew the first one up, it still drove me home on 2 cylinders!

Yup, the same here. Mind you I've only driven TD's never owned one. Had 3 N/A/s and they piss all over the TD around town, as they are really sluggish till the turbo spools up.
Once on the open rd or M/way, fair enough, the TD takes off. 8)

If I scrap the XM - why not have the XUD11???? huh? huh?

edited for the benefit of our Father, the word blooming has been substituted for the original swear word. Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. :P

I thought you had a buyer for the XM?
Not so much blowing them, they are rotting out, old age, and all the ones that fail are NLA, as usual..

Did Vanny get those pipes made up from China? Did they arrive? Or did the chinks take his money and run?

It's onto standard automotive pipe and copper fittings me old tater!

No, the XM aint sold. Someone on FCF was after it at some point, but has backed out. Unless I find a taker by 3rd week in April then I gonna strip and weigh the lot in. But if you want the lump mate, it's yours, otherwise.....it'll make like the cop from Terminator 2!

Pulls from 1100 revs??? What you got for cams, 1"nails?? Neither Steve's or Bax's gave anything under 1900 revs, but as Vanny said, after that it do go a bit. 8)

hmm, a D12 is tempting mate, it really is, but ya know, there's the hassle of getting the fucker out, and getting it in yadda yadda..
I've lost so much interest in cars (well, and everything else really) it's not even funny.
But yes, I'll be making up some pipes in the near future, same for the hydraulic returns since they are all on the go, again.. thats the third full replacement set it's got through too.

The cams a 19NA cam mate, makes a metric shiteload of difference off boost.

Oh, and bear in mind Bandit, scrap is £200 a tonne right now!

Yes it is rather good. I can get £80 for an engine (how they work that out I don't know - perhaps it's cos it's kerwality steel) But mate, if you want it, it's yours for a cuppa - seriously. I'll hoik it out, you just have to put it in....lover!

I mean it mate, yours if you choose my brizzole prince x It can be in Stroud by the start of May!

Besides, it'll ba a darn site easier to re-pipe the bay with the engine out and I even donate a gearbox with the uprated diff. We could be the D12 brothers

it is tempting mate, really, but then I've not long put this engine in, and in all honesty, I'm more inclined to get the bus done, I mean, yes, I will restore...ooh, Laura's on the weather... mmmmmmm.. um, the car when the bus is finished, but that wont be til the arse end of next year at least really, if you can get an extra £80 in yo pocket then thats got to be better for you mate!

I like welding too and what I have learnt is that there is two sides to it, the preparation and the welding itself and it's always tempting to be slack on the prep and leave it all up to the welding. I'm lazy like that, but if I take more time and diligence on the prep, the welding always goes better

Well as you know I spent many a year in fab and weld.
The secret is to get each operation as good as you can get it. Measuring, M/out, Making patterns or templates, Cutting and then fabbing up, followed by any welding you can do off the job.
If you get that lot something like, the final welding is piss easy.
Metalwork skills are not easy, they just take lots of practice, but once gained they are never lost (you just slow down
