Woo Hoo!
3 & 1/2 years after the spanner was last waived in the general direction of the Valver she's finally heading s***h!
Come the 9th April she'll be on the back of a trailer bound for her new garage in Sunless Cornwall.
Kind of worried what i'm gonna find after such a long storage.
Stupidly excited though

Fuck me! I'm not the only one resurrecting long dormant projects then. How long since it's been on the road?

Re: G16VBX
My best calculation using photo dates means it was last OTR in March 2007. So, 7 years to the dot! Not as long as the Stellar i'm guessing?
I am actually quite concerned about corrosion over the 4 years since it was last put away, especially as it's not exactly a heated air-conditioned garage!

Legally it went off the road in 2003 although last time I actually drove it anywhere was to move it down to Gloucester in 2004 (early hours of the morning on the back roads job!) Last time it actually moved was rolling off the trailer when we moved to Wales in 2006, so a similar length of time to yours really...every time the SORN reminder came through it was embarrassing that I'd made no more progress on it.

Talking of off the road timetables
1961 BSA B40. Last ridden, March 1977.
Last in one piece April 1980.
Need to source a +60 piston for less than £100 !!!
Can't find the fucking seat... well there was only a rusty bit of the pan left.
Have rear hub but need to get the wheel re built, oh and a toolbox lid.
Doesn't sound much really. I have a few bitz to get re chromed too but that be no problem.
I need to set a date really. It's the only way it will get done.

Re: G16VBX
Well that's my quirk TBH. If I do set myself dates or specific goals, it just seems to get done.
I supose it's the residue from a lifetime of working to deadlines when there was big money involved.

Best of luck mate, and if you're towing it behind the Athena, get a picture so the trailer police can point out that you're illegal...

Planned to leave at 8am, actually left at 930 due to some last-minute tow socket replacement!
Anyways, twas a troublefree journey both ways and it's now safely stowed in it's new garage until the home workshop & driveway are built next year!

I'm betting thats why the boot is tied closed!
Wow, to actually see her again, she's looking very good for having been in storage for so long

Re: G16VBX
The doors did indeed open on the trailer, and it was one of them lovely tilt-beds. Nice if not monstrously heavy!
The storage has done her no harm at all. She's still completely totally rust free!
Laguna diesel is highly recommended, surprisingly good donkey!
Double posted on BXC, mainly to invite the obvious criticisms of loading it the wrong way round... i'll not mention the engine and 2 g'boxs were in the back just yet

I'm disappointed by the lack of bites so far!jayw wrote: Double posted on BXC, mainly to invite the obvious criticisms of loading it the wrong way round... i'll not mention the engine and 2 g'boxs were in the back just yet
So what are the plans with the engine? Supercharged as you've mentioned? Or just a wait and see kinda gig?

Re: G16VBX
I'm surprised too tbh, but i think RXBX must be on holiday (or dead) as i haven't seen any of his diatribe recently!
The original plan was just to fit N2o (I bought the £800 kit), then I came across th Rotrex s/c and ordered the £1400 compressor without considering the other components, fortunately the compressor was out of stock and my bacon was saved!
Ideally i'd have prefferrd a DFW lump as a starting point but that's mostly turned up fruitless.
I'm going to strip and rebuild this engine and decide later on with respects to the aspiration, although i still think the s/c is the way to go. Failing that, properly sorted carbs!
