bx plip

Post by charlie » 13 Feb 2008

my remote locking has been temperamental as fuck for ages

works for weeks then all of sudden fuck all

ive tried new batteries etc

but what i think ive noticed is that it seems to be tied in with the boot

and of course i might be totally fuckin wrong again,

but is there any connections or other electrical stuff in the tailgate, that could be loose, so that when i open and close it would effect the working of the plip

ta

on the camry the remote will not work unless the doors boot and bonnet are properly shut.

I thought all the BX's receiver bits were up in that little panel with the sunroof motor ,

have you checked theres no damp up there (common fault with renault clios ) caused by blocked sunroof drain tubes ?

when you say tempremental do you mean it locks then unlocks its self? if thats the case then i suggest you have a sticking lock motor, which could be the one in the boot. Sling hte locking motor out and put another one in!

just doesnt want to work at all

when it works it works ok

i dunno maybe i was thinkin on the lines that if there was an electrical gremlin was in the boot area

somehow stoppin the plip workin

but that doesnt really make sense.............

ok then lets try another question

when i operate the central locking with a door key

how do the other doors and boot lock, some electrical circuit i assume,

then if i am using a plip does it use the same circuit to lock everything up

You've tried fitting your Plip with new batteries but have you checked it's working on the red led quite brightly to see those batteries are OK?

Also you can check that the infra red led on the Plip is working by pointing this at a digital camera lens(or camera phone) and then you can see the infra red emission on the LCD display. 8)

Does the central locking ALWAYS work correctley with the key?
Also important, does the passenger front door operate the central locking?

If the central locking always works with the key the problem is likely to be the contacts in the plip, they do die with age, but they can usually be resusitated.

Also, does ANY water whatsoever get in the roof past the aerial post?
