Sorry for the delay dude, I' missed this completley!
746 looks about right, but the exploded diagram is not the clearest, by which I mean 746 looks ABOUt right, but the srawing is not quite what it actually looks like, but following the little line things then thats where it should be, if that makes any sense?

why does everything on this fuckin car get so difficult
am trying to get the new stop solenoid but its another fuckin mission
all the motor factors ive tried can only supply the same, wrong stop solenoid that ive got already
the local lucas place went out of business two weeks ago
another so called local expert said that you cant buy them separate and he said that it was the pointy bit at 760
need to get this car sorted but its painfully slow work

Erm, but from following the line on the drawing 760 goes through the end plate and therefore must be the fuel limiting trigger?
The two EPIC pumps (one on an XM and one on a Xantia as it goes) I've stripped had the stop solonoid above the injector pipe output ports which was accessible after removing the plastic end shields.
They WERE available seperatley, I know his cos I replaced one about a year or so ago.
Albeit Lucas going to the wall may have fucked things up, but then lLSUK were only really suppliers and made very little anyway.
I'll ask Manny tomorrow and see if he's got a pump laying around I can rob.

I agree that both those things inline with 746 and 760 look solenoidish, but there is also an electronic timing advance unit which (looking at Charlies VW link) is the 746 one and then a timing position sensor which is the 760 one. But the VW piccy is a bit vague and the piccy shown has no legend!
As long as i continue to be amused by Charlies Shed Woes then all is well..........
