Soo many guests again...

Post by docchevron132 » 16 Aug 2009

Hello guests!

Don't be shy, come say hello!
We don't bite!
Well, ok, actually we do, but it's all in jest, piss taking is all here, if you don't like being mercilessly ripped the hell out of, maybe best not to come say hello..
But, if you enjoy a decent bit of banter, piss taking, and gleaning knowledge from the best engineers on the net, then, well, here is the place to be...

I see a number of the names who joined at the time of the April hiatus on BXC come on here regularly for a browse, but now never post. :? So maybe they are shy Doc? :)

From my one and only experience of Holland I wonder if Charlie might have had his fill of drinking - though it is overall a pretty civilised place to have a drink. I remember arriving back in s***h Wales after my trip there, going into a pub and looking at a pint of beer in my hand.... and looking transfixed at the pint of beer.....and thinking "this is a truly enormous volume of liquid" .

Err, no. Never done that, usually too busy pouring it down my neck. 8)

I don't think Charlie will have done a lot of drinking. According to Bandit, he was on a cycling trip with his lad.

 I know what you mean, those tiny little 'floutjers' or whatever they're called. By the time you've paid, turned around from the bar, it's time to turn around and order another cos it all goes down in one!

That's probably true of the stuff from the pumps as it's usually pretty low abv.................however theres some high abv stuff in the bottles especially if they hail from Belgium..........so less could be more in that case. :P :D

A lot of bars in Sweden use pint glasses....(complete with crown) or 1/2 litre.

In Germany you get a wider choice; 250ml, 350ml, 500ml, 1litre, or a Stein. Which is anything from 1 and a 1/4 to 2 litres depending on where you are.
The choice is widest the further So**h and East you go.

I agree with you on Belgium, WTG. Some excellent largers as well. 8)

good point w2g and one which further proves my point - get the cooking larger in the right vessel. They had to dust off the 1/2 litre glasses when I asked for one! The Dutch, whilst nice, I found rather plain and so they never had the selection of beers like the Belgians

Did you ever try a Kwak? This is the beer they serve in a mini yard shaped glass that inserts into an open wooden frame with a handle? :D

It's good although not the best but wins points on novelty.

I'd certainly agree - bottled beer is one thing the Belgians Duvel at... (Yeah, I know that's not the really serious stuff).

Looks like although you kept the lad on short rations, he could drink it faster than you! :P
