Wheels question.

Post by Stinkwheel(Matt) » 15 Jan 2010

Anyone ever put 13" wheels on a BX?

Will they fit over the brakes?

Am i asking fucking pointless questions?

Its just i have this set of wolfrace slot mags and i fancied giving the StTropez a retro set of wheels.
OK, so i've got some stuff, some of it goes, some of it doesnt, some of it never will again!

 I think they would go over the brakes diametrically and if they are wider, you would be ok there.

However, you would be lowering the overall gearing by over 7%, making it accelerate quicker,
lower your top speed and ruin the MPG.

true. I did think about that. BUT the old style 175/80 - 13 tyres required to fit the wheels would hopefully mean overall not as much as 7% difference.

We shall see, i gotta get the car (2nd weeks feb) and wear out the tyres on it first.

:) Yes, I'm working on standard tyre sizes there. You would need to measure the differential rolling radius, or to be more accurate measure the circumference of each with a piece of string to show the true difference.

Yes... I've put BX's on 13" wheels from a Pug 309 before now. They *just* clear the brakes. Different designs of wheels may or may not fit, and if they do fit it will be very close.
... all landings are in fact controlled crashes, and any crash you can walk away from is a good landing. The definition of a good pilot is a man with the same number of landings as take-offs.
