Aren't we all already paying though?
I mean, all this aid heading that way comes from our tax dollars and all...

Yes, sadly, it appears our second new webfusion server has, er, died...

I have to 2nd you there Doc, as controversial as it may be...

When i walk down the street and see people sleeping in doorways, when i hear of neglected and abused children, when at work i speak to pensioners that can't afford to heat their homes during the winter, when people have desperately needed operations cancelled, when families struggle to feed themselves and lifesaving drugs are too expensive to be given to those who could be saved...

I say CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME! And when we as a nation can't look after our own, sod everyone else. I appreciate some of these disasters around the world may be disturbing but if it came to the crunch, how many of these countries will supply aid to us if we got devestated by a disaster.

Quite agree with you Doc and Jayw, it doesn't make sense when there is such great need right here in the UK.

However they do need a humungous amount of aid and what's proposed here is similar to Thehungersite where you click and they donate. ie nothing out of your pocket or taxpayers dosh either 8)

In this case you subscribe to Moneysavingexpert.com newsletter and they donate 50p, again at no cost to you or me. FTW

Martin Lewis is always sticking it to fatcats, big business, banks etc and Moneysavingexpert gives you all the tips to do the same so the newsletter is worth getting anyway, the donation is just the cherry on top.

Fucking hell all this typing has made me thirsty...... looks for ale swilling smiley!!!

:) Ah, err, that's different then.

What I can never understand is how come disaster strikes these countries and they just sit on their arse in desolation. when they are not looting. Waiting for someone else to do something.

If it was here there would be people tearing at the rubble with their bare hands to free people.

There would be doc's and nurses available to use whatever they could lay their hands on to help.

Howe come these nations have nothing. No Doc's or nurses not a digger in sight....anywhere.

A lot of them are already receiving huge financial aid medical aid etc to try to bring them into the modern age and have been for years. So what's happening to it if they still have no meaningful infrastructure, no industry and no jobs.
The answer I think lies with the aid it's self. It is always unconditional and therefore becomes self defeating.
It makes them better off than they were before, so why should they start working and do jobs
when it's nicer to sit on yer arse in the sun. Understandable!
The same can be said of part of our own population as well, they will sit on benefit with absolutely no intention of getting a job, some of them have even said so to my face when I did some mentoring a few years back.
I'm old enuff to have seen all this type of aid given to countries like this, around the globe, over the last 50 years and they just never seem to progress.

Anyone old enough to remember something called Live Aid '85?

Same scenario... Millions of £'s (which was a lot of money back then) of supplies, JCB's, tools and hardware, not to mention personnel & aid workers, a few years of work by those people to create sustainable arable crops and what do we find 20 years later? Exactly the same as Sir 'Whining Bastard' Geldof found back then!

They ate all the grain as it was quicker than working hard to grow it and sat on their arses with their hands out again... never seems to stop them increasing their population though!

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic to the rest of the world, I'm not insensitive - I just don't give a shit.

Perhaps the whole 'aid' situation can be summed up by "Poor white people in rich countries give money to rich black men in poor countries".

I don't know whether that's still true any more, as the fundraising campaigns are all very big on showing where the money previously raised has gone, but it does make you wonder. Not trying to stop anyone from giving to charity, you just have to make up your own mind. Something that is becoming more and more of an alien concept.

See, there's a part of me that thinks "oh isn't that terrible" and there's another part of me that thinks "FFS, you live on a fault line what do you expect?"
Same goes for Africa and all the other washed out piss towns knocking about.
Like, you live in Africa, you have fuck all, and no chance of growing crops of any use.
So, stop having fucking 300 kids, and if you want to prosper, fuck off to somewhere where you CAN grow crops..

Natural "disasters" will keep happening, and some things never change I guess but if I lived somewhere I couldn't survive on my own then I'd fuck off to somewhere where I could..

:) Only the northern bit of Africa is...,well, desert Doc. The rest of it, apart from another couple of deserts lower down, is well capable of growing just about anything. Congo and surrounding countries actually get more rain than us!!!!!!
It all just wants organisibg properly, with proper roads and rail links. There's lots of water underground even in places that don't get as much. Investment and education are the 2 ingredients. Every time this starts to have an effect though, they start chopping each other to bitz coz they are in a different tribe or something.

The other bit, about fucking off somewhere else [chin] well, that's usually here then dude, for the ones that do!! :(

/\ inclined to agree.
This little planet is hugely overpopulated as it is, so a damn good cull every now and then can only be a good thing, frankly we need more of them.

But they could be more subjective. Now if we had earthquakes that just targeted jails, or Darlington, that would be a lot fairer.

Some say that's why the Americans invented AIDS & posted it to Africa, they didn't expect the 70's sex-tourists to bring it back... Funny old folk those yanks [no]

I think even a tsunami would avoid Watford..

The yanks are indeed a weird breed..
I often wondered how they survived since most of them dont even know whats in the next city..
Aids is a tad of a pisser, I know several people with it, and knew several people that had it, who are now dead like..

All through infected blood products the NHS bought from the USA in the early eighties..
All that shit makes me a bit angry. They knew it was infected and sent it all out regardless. The NHS knew it was highly likely to be dodgy, and still used it.
No cunt ever went to porridge for it.
Slow horrid way to die.. If we want a good cull, lets make use of all these Nukes we have laying around doing fuck all...

  Totally agree Doc, but as for Nukes..... erm....well, some cunt might start throwing em back.
Having worked in the industry for a number of years, I've seen the result of what happens when one gets a tad irradiated. It's every bit as bad as aids but a bit quicker
