They are expensive, but he just wanted pretty pics, he can search for the cheapest ones himself the lazy git!

But, you aint put no link!

Actually, just to wind him up and confuse him.......

Charlie, why not 'put in' LEDs - they'll outlast you AND the car!

[chin] Actually I'm thinking of wiring an LED into the auto indicator as its the socket what stops the bulb from working. Anyone know what is the best value of resistor to place in series with the LED?

Depends on the LED...but you can get LEDs for direct 12V connection which already have the appropriate resistor built into the case.

'Ere you go! But the direct bulb replacement LEDs would be easier if you have no problems with the bulb socket. If you do use LEDs the rheostat will go from bright to slightly less bright, as with the minimal current drawn there will be very little voltage drop across it.

Yes, but there a lot of things in life better than Maplins nowadays, like poking yourself in the eye with a fork. I remember the local store in Sheffield being able to give me electronics advice - now it just seems they sell the cheapest tackiest gadgets they can import.

My sentiments too mate. Not that I go there often, but they do seem to of become the electronic version of Halfrauds!

Dear god! The Festoon bulb could be good, although whilst LEDs tend to be brighter than filaments, they don't seem to illuminate as well.

Don't bling Charlie, don't bling mate
