Does anyone have any cross reference part numbers for the rear arm bearing (cit 75472408). SKF or Brammer etc???

I know i've seen them somewhere but can't find it.

Cheers.

Got a set in the study so will grab them when i get in.

BUT

theres always one,

The numbers on the bearings i believe are 'Citroen Only' numbers and you can't order individual bearings with those numbers, so you might need actual measurements!

There's a manufacturer, ABEX, near me. I just take whatever I need with me and we match them up there.

that would be the sensible thing to have done of course!
Sadly my filing system is more akin to scribbles on fag packets!

Ah well, in days of old some good designs started life on the back of fag packets. No computers then to de-humanise the process.

I'm still proud of the fact every bit of fabricating I've done on the bus, and make no mistake it's been a LOT, has been done by eye, with dimesnions scribbled on bits of paper / whatever was laying around, and it all fits perfectly, better than Dennis / Plaxtons managed.

I wasn't aware they ever did :P

Difference is they put it together using many different people, less skilled and most importantly probably not caring about the quality of the job they did.

:) That's not strictly true Mat. I know many of the lads were extremely proud of doing a good job.
However, From my meets with individual managers I can only class them as abysmal, making decisions (or not doing) about work without even discussing it with the guys who were going to be doing it and directly affecting quality into the bargain.

that and they were very much built down to a price, not up to a standard, they had to be to sell, no one was buying full size single decks in the 90's.
I still think the way they used 2 teams, one on each side, was arse about face, especially since one team clearly didn't speak to the other!
That and they had the weirdest delivery system, with bits arriving for a certain chassis, so if they ran out of bits for one chassis, but had plenty for another further back in the production line, rather than step the parts up, they halted work on the chassis awaiting bits and carried on with the unit further back. Odd way of working to my mind!

The build was in 20 stages Doc, glazing and glass being the last.
The chasis started things, having the pre fabricated side frames fitted first (by one team) then the cross beams to make it a complete bus. then it moved on to all the sideskin panels and roof. It continued round the line (not all in one shop) untill the exterior was complete.
It then moved to interiors wireing etc until complete.
Trainees went round all the stations to complete their training usually placed in the section they were best in but not always. each of the 20 sections was worked by a team that completed whatever work they had to do, each being able tyo cover all operations within that section.
Parts, modifications etc, was their bad bit. Quite often things would stop if parts wetre due within an hour or so. modifications would not be carried out if bits came un modified they went on. Other times busses would leave with parts missing and someone would be dispatched (usually Derek) to fit them whereever the bus was.
Engineering section and management at Wigan were both crap.

It's no different know mate! When the first of the Volvo B9TL's arrived, we had 2 full time dudes from Volvo on site to fix the sheds!

And they say we haven't lost any skills

Yes mistakes occasionally happened when I was on the shop floor, but the difference was, they never left the shop without rectification.
Nowadays miscalculations are the norm but no one seems to have either the skills or ability to sort it out.
