Do you actually know that the tube will bend under the strains you'll be putting it under. It may well be than unless the tubular shape is crushed, it will be strong enough in which case anything to keep it retaining its shape will do. The chemical metal epoxies I've seen like JB Weld still have a much lower tensile strength than steel though, but can you use concrete with a bit of rebar? That way the strain will be transferred to the bar rather than just the outer tube.

i think the "complex shape" of the tube would prevent you from esing rebar Matt

just inject plastic into the fucker. Though to be honest, without any idea of forces, exactly what type of plastic is anyones guess.

you could go get a copy of Cambridge Engineering Selector which will tell you exactly what you can and can't use based on the parameters you've given.

Or, if you don't have £800 to spend, try MatWeb website.

google #MatWeb and its the first link

start a search from Physical Properties and i would suggest you start by looking at room temperature plasticity, melting point (because you dont want it melt on a warm day) and if you look into polymers i think you can select thermo SET plastics.

It's straight forward, if you know what your looking for, if you dont know what a Charpy (Pronounced 'sharp-eeeee') Impact rating or Brinnel Hardness value are, then it might not be too much use.

Though if you don't know about Charpy and Brinnel, you might want to google it because you'll never look at hammering a nail into a piece of wood quite the same way again.

In large fabricated structures where the thickness of columns and beams has been reduced drastically (for other reasons)
The medium of choice is SAND. I wasn't being facetious because I eas walking around in it. It will compact and isn't affected by heat of cold and doesn't get air bubbles in awkward shapes either. 8)

As you will be aware, I'm back in blighty once more and fucking freezing it is too.
