Well following Fenwicks showing off on BXClub;

I thought i would go one better.

Original XM light up automatic one up one down switch with tiny glass bulbs.

Same switch, with LED's. I've also removed the green filters, seem a bit pointless when the LED is green.

In the dark

and the pin outs for the switch if someone else wants to try.

Does that actually work in the car like that? I modded an non illuminated auto switch (but you'll have to wait till it goes dark before I can get a photo). But I couldn't get them to light up satisfactorily just by linking them to (I think) the terminals you have. Can't remember if it was just very dim or what the problem was, but I ended up running a separate positive and earth feed.
Thinking about it, I can't remember a positive voltage at the switch at all, I think it was a switched earth. Either way, if it works all well and good - interesting to see how Citroen did it. I had to glue the LEDs in behind the one touch buttons, and feed the legs through without shorting out the spade terminals.

I dont see why it wouldn't work. All i've actually done is take out the bulbs and replace them with the LED's. They're just boggo 3mm LED's, and illuminate alright with the standard wiring.

I imagine if you wanted more power you could lash in some ultra brites.

Thinking about it, the XM switches have an extra pin which the BX switches dont have. I think this might be the extra power line that your switch didn't have!

What, no resistor?

Think you're right, but I just tapped into the feed for the passenger switch.

My XM had an extra pin that the BX switch doesn't.. And although I have an XM switch in the drivers door on my valver, it doesn't light at all, and yet it does in an XM...

because you havent connected the extra pin which i suspect runs to ground?

I'm not convinced it does run to earth, not that I have an XM to check it against anymore...
If it does run to ground then it's got some fucked up logic in it!

Well look at the picture above and find out which pin is missing, 2 or 5, that will tell you if its missing the ground or the supply. Actually thinking about it, they are all switched earth so youd be missing the supply.

pretty sure yeah, I think it's pin 2 missing, although I'd have pull the switch to look, I cant remember off the top of my head..

Yeah, I'm 99% certain the BX wiring is missing a supply, although the Haynes diagram (assuming I read it right) shows it as a switched +ve supply to the one touch controller. It's definitely 1 pin in from the end that's missing on the BX, so if it's a 5 pin connector it's pin 2 that's missing.

hmm, should be easy enough to add the bastard then!
