No, cos I'm pretty much done!Vanny wrote:but can this thread outlive the PP2 thread??
Exactley what have you got in mind for Jazz dude?
Bare shell rebuild / weld where required / just bodywork / all mechanicals overhauled / respray ????
Anything is possible, and cost depends really on how bad things are.
Body work wise it's more time than expense, I have plenty of steel, so it's only sundries like gas / welding wire etc..
Obviousley I wouldn't be in to making a profit out of yourself, I dont charge my friends, never have.
Time is the biggest factor, I've spent thousands of hours on this valver, and I started it last August! That said I have gone several weeks ata time without touching the thing at all since other things kept getting in the way...
Anyhow, I flatted the sill skirts back with some 1200 grit and plenty of soapy water, then set to it with some fine rubbing compound, not using a mop, just by hand for now since it's still rather soft, and I'm rather pleased with the result!
It's not perfect and theres still alot of fine lines from the 1200 grit in it, but once it's hardened properly I'll mop it and it should come up ok, so I'm happier to rub the whale down and lacquer that now..
Then I set to with the instrument binnacle and fitted the new speedo head, but not before discovering the bloody trip counter was broken, on a brand new bloody speedo!
Bastards, anyway, stripped the mileage drum from my speedo to keep the mileage, and then stripped a stupidly low mileage head for the trip counter and installed!
Changed the anti freeze and spent bastard hours bleeding it. Ok it didn't need lots of bleeding, but I wanted to be sure.
Changed the engine oil for shiny new Quartz 7000 and fitted a new oil pressure sender unit, so it now works as it should, for the first time since I've had the bloody car!
And then......
The fucking thing started idling at 1500RPM and wouldn't come down no matter what.
After shutting it down and leaving it for a bit it then started and idled about 500RPM and kept stalling.
At the end of the day I fired it up to reverse it back and it was perfect again.
Not sure what the hells going on there TBH, but it is desperatley low on fuel and thats been in there for best part of a year....
I'll have a look saturday, and get some fresh petrol in it, I'm off to Kitchs tomorrow to weld a 106 for him...
